Las Vegas, NV — MountainView Hospital welcomes Dr. Katherine Specht, board-eligible colorectal surgeon, to MountainView Hospital and its patient clinic, Las Vegas Complex Surgical Associates.

Dr. Specht brings a wealth of experience to Las Vegas, having completed a colorectal fellowship at AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida. She completed her general surgery residency at Sunrise Health Medical Education Consortium, based at MountainView Hospital and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Specht back to the Las Vegas community and MountainView Hospital to help deliver this specialized care to our patients,” said Hiral Patel, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “One of the goals of the GME program is to train the next generation of physicians for Las Vegas. We’re thankful that Dr. Specht has come back to join the team and become a member of our community.”

Dr. Specht earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California. She has a Master of Science in Global Medicine and undergraduate degrees in molecular toxicology and psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Specht was recognized for several achievements during her residency and fellowship training programs and is cited in numerous published articles and poster projects. Her professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Outside of work, Dr. Specht enjoys spending time with her dog, hiking, traveling and cooking. She was formerly a competitive figure skater and currently volunteers as an official with U.S. Figure Skating.
